GERALD K. LOIS

Easter Lily      Gerald K. ‘Baldy’ Lois, 68, New Munster, died Nov. 30, 2015, at St. Catherine’s Medical Center, Kenosha.

He was born on Feb. 28, 1947, in Burlington, to the late Albert and Lillian (Schilz) Lois. He grew up in the New Munster area, attended St. Alphonsus Grade School and graduated from St. Mary’s High School.

He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War where he received the Bronze Star.

On Feb. 6, 1971, in Oak Park, Ill., he married Gail Puchalski. Following marriage they made their home in New Munster where they raised their family.

He worked at Sears for 32 years as a salesman. Following his retirement he worked at Finishing Touches Landscaping. He was a lifetime member of St. Alphonsus Church where he was an active member of the St. Alphonsus Booster Club. As a member of the Wheatland Fire Department he served as assistant chief. He spent many years running the annual softball tournaments for both organizations. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and especially loved spending time with his grandkids.

Survivors include his wife of 44 years; children, Amy (James) Forehand, and Brad Lois; grandchildren, Elizabeth Forehand, Trent Forehand and Kasey Lois, siblings, Janice Richter, Dennis (Judy) Lois, Barbara (Michael) Reesman; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

He was further preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Gerald Richter.

The family asks that memorials go to St. Alphonsus Church or Wheatland Volunteer Fire Department.

A special thank you goes out to close friends Ray and Lois Cates and Larry and Sandy Smith for all their love and support.

Services for Gerald will be held Friday, Dec. 4, at 7 p.m., at St. Alphonsus Church with the Rev. Terry Langley presiding. Visitation for family and friends will be at church on Friday, from 3-6:45 p.m. Private burial will be in St. Alphonsus Cemetery. Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home & Crematory, Burlington, is serving the family.
