GEORGE J. KRISMER JR.

Easter Lily      Dr. George J. Krismer Jr., 83, Burlington, died Jan. 2, 2015, at his residence.

He was born in La Crosse, on Aug. 15, 1931, to the late George J. and Ruth V. (Arneson) Krismer Sr. He spent his early life in La Crosse where he graduated from La Crosse Aquinas High School.

On June 23, 1956, he married Helen Kathryn Zweber, in La Crosse. In 1960 they moved to Burlington where they raised their family.

He attended St. Mary’s College in Winona, Minn., and Medical School at Creighton University in Omaha, Neb., where he worked at Boys Town. He did his residency at Milwaukee County Medical Center.

He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1958 to 1960 as a Captain at Whiteman Air Force Base in Warrensburg, Mo.

When they moved to Burlington in 1960 he began his practice with Dr. Lief Erickson Sr. and Dr. Laird McNeel. He was a member of St. Charles Church. He was an avid Wisconsin Badger basketball fan, and loved to read and paint. He was passionate about history, especially the Civil War.

He loved spending time with his grandchildren and always found time to attend their various activities. His biggest hobby was his work. He was a very dedicated physician who cared deeply about his patients.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years; children, John Krismer, Kathleen (Timothy) English (grandchildren, Jacob and Melissa), Michael (Lisa) Krismer (grandchildren, Eric, Andrew and Abbey), Patrick (Joli) Krismer (grandchildren, Nathan, Mitchell and Derek); many other relatives and wonderful friends.

He was further preceded in death by his sisters-in-law, Henrietta and Sr. Catherinette; and stepmother, Leona Krismer.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, Jan. 8, at 10 a.m., at St. Charles Catholic Church with the Rev. James Volkert presiding. Visitation with family and friends is Wednesday, Jan. 7, from 4-8 p.m., at St. Charles Church. Burial will follow the Mass in St. Charles Cemetery. Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home & Crematory, Burlington, is serving the family.

    BMH and He was our Doctor for many years. My sympathy to all the family.
