FLORENCE A. GREIL

Easter Lily      Florence A. Greil, 91, Waterford, died peacefully at her home on Oct. 28, 2015. She was born in St. Martins, Wis., on Nov. 20, 1923, to the late Tom and Mary (Wallace) Godsell. She was a graduate of Juneau High School.

On May 4, 1946, she married Joseph A. Greil at St. Martins Holy Assumption Church. They lived on the family farm and raised five children. She was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, Christian Mothers, and helped in the kitchen numerous times with funeral luncheons and turkey dinner. She loved to play cards, was a Norway 4-H leader and spent much time gardening, cooking and canning. She made the best pies and brought home blue ribbons from the fair for her rolls and her specialty, Blitz Torte. Most of all Florence loved her family; her kids, grandkids and great-grandkids.

Survivors include her children, Mary Jo (Don) Carson, Tom (Nancy) Greil, Rita (Gene) Behr, Donna (Richard) Friemoth, Marsha (John) Napientek; grandchildren, Ryan (fianceé Amy) Friemoth, Pete (Gina) Greil, Mark (Andrea) Greil, Amy (fiancé Ben) Greil, Karen (Harold) Swyers, Vicki (Jeff) McKone, Craig Friemoth, Lisa (Dave) Pritzlaff, Cheryl (John) Preiser, Brian (Michelle) Behr, Jason Behr, Emily Behr, Kate (Evan) Stich, Kurt Napientek, Chris (Anna) Carson, Todd (Liz) Carson and Molly (Jeremy) Westmoreland; 28 great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers, Mary (Don) Thompson, Rose Wiza, Ione (Cletus) Koetterhagen and Janice (Glenn) Weitkunat; other relatives and friends.

She was further preceded in death by her husband; sister, Margaret Godsell; brother, Celeste ‘Bud’ Godsell; brother-in-law, Tony Wiza.

Visitation is Saturday, Oct. 31, from 9-11 a.m., with Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 11 a.m., at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 305 S. First St., Waterford. Burial will follow Mass in the church cemetery.

In lieu of floral expressions of sympathy, memorials are suggested to St. Thomas Church, Racine County Ag Society, or 4-H, Checks may be written to family members for an equal distribution. Mealy Funeral Home, Waterford, is serving the family.
