ELIZABETH A. GAROFALO

Easter Lily      Elizabeth A. Garofalo, St. Augustine, Fla., formerly Burlington, died Nov. 22, 2015, in St. Augustine. She was born in Burlington in 1929, to the late Alvin and Helen (Schwartz) Eisenbart.

After graduating from St. Mary’s High School, she found the love of her life, Dominic Garofalo. After they married on Oct. 20, 1951, she raised eight children (seven boys and one girl) and was always a dedicated mother and wife to her children and husband. Dominic preceded her in death on Oct. 17, 1990. Elizabeth and Dominic lived in Milwaukee, Monroe and California before returning to the Burlington area in 1988. She lived the last few years in Florida.

After Elizabeth and Dominic moved to California, she loved coming back to Wisconsin to visit with family and friends. In her later years she was quite the traveler exploring Italy, Mexico, the Caribbean, Alaska and visiting family. She also remained a lifetime Brewer, Packer and Badger fan. She was an extremely kind, generous and religious person who lived a very full productive life. She was always strong in her commitment to family and her Catholic faith. She always made sure she kept the family close no matter how geographically spread out they became.

She weakened over the years from physical complications. In spite of these physical challenges she always remained positive and never wanted attention focused on her personal health battle. Instead, she focused her energy on helping family. She was a bright positive light and inspiration for all.

Survivors include her children, Gary (Janet) Garofalo, Dominic (Candy) Garofalo, Michael (Kathyrn) Garofalo, Marc Garofalo, Paul (Lisa) Garofalo, Mary (Tony) Romero, James (Barbara) Garofalo and John (Lisa) Garofalo; grandchildren, Barbra, Lynnette, Dominic, Brandon, Justin, Joe, Nellie, Linley, Ian, Adam, Leland, Matthew, Michael, Christina, Anthony, Joe, Dominic, Isabella, Sophia, Vincent and Joseph; great-grandchildren, Anika, Taryn, Josh, Bryce, Shea, Hailey, Troy, Kyle, Brooke, Barbara, Patrick, Nicholas, Brandon, Marilyn, Helena, Jericho, Genevieve, Dominic and Joseph; sisters, Joan (Tony) Heidt and Mary (Tom) Nicoski.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, Dec. 5, at noon at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends is Saturday from 10-11:45 a.m., at Good Shepherd Chapel. Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home & Crematory, Burlington, is serving the family.

The family asks that memorials go to St. Mary’s Grade School and Catholic Central High School.
