Earl Hillen, 85, died Dec. 14, 2015, at Elder Care Cottages. He was born May 29, 1930, to the late Earl and Zada Hillen in Knoxville, Tenn.
He grew up in Tennessee and attended college at the University of Tennessee. He was a member of the Lamda CHI Fraternity, and graduated with a degree in mechanical engineering.
After college he enlisted in the U.S. Army and went on to fight in the Korean War. Shortly after his time in the service, Earl married the love of his life, Lynn Womble, on April 10, 1954. They made a life for themselves in Knoxville, Tenn.
Survivors include his loving wife; daughters, Kimberly (John) Fitzgerald, Karen (Geoffry) Staursky; grandchildren, Sean (Karen), Ryan, Kellyanne, Kristy, Kathleen, Anna, Joe, Leah; and great-grandchildren, Caleb and Reeve.
A celebration of Life is Saturday, Dec. 19, at Community United Methodist Church, 455 S. Jefferson St., Waterford. Visitation will start at 9 a.m., followed by a 10 a.m., service. A private burial will be held Tuesday, Dec. 22. Integrity Funeral Services, Waterford, is serving the family.
