DIANA MARY THERESE SCHMIDT

Easter Lily      Diana Mary Therese (Lopez) Schmidt, 71, Burlington, died Feb. 6, 2015, at her residence. She was born March 4, 1943, to the late Anthony and Lorraine (Kohl) Lopez in Milwaukee. Her early life was spent in Chicago where she graduated from Tuley High School.

On Jan. 20, 1962, she married James Schmidt in Chicago. She relocated to Burlington two years ago. Before she retired, she worked as an auditor for First American Bank. Diana was a gifted artist. She created a craft business and sold many of the jewelry pieces she made from semi-precious gems.

She adored turtles and amassed a large collection of turtle themed items. She was a great cook and enjoyed cooking for her family. She devoted her life to supporting those family and friends she loved.

Survivors include her former husband, James Schmidt; children, Suzanne (Michael) Boutcher and William (Lisa) Schmidt; grandchildren, Christopher, Aaron, Emily, Steven and Benjamin Boutcher, Anthony, Julianna, Carson and Connor Schmidt; nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives, many friends and her special pets, Cooper, Tia, JJ and Shadow Boutcher.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Anthony Lopez and Lorraine (Vern) Scammahorn; her soul mate, John King; special pets, Wilbur, Sombra, Binky and Angel.

The family has suggested memorials be made to Wounded Warrior Project or Easter Seals.

Memorial service will be announced later. Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home & Crematory, Burlington, is serving the family.
