CHARLES R. LEE

Easter Lily      Charles Richard ‘Ric’ Lee, 68, Mt. Pleasant, died Oct. 30, 2015, surrounded by his family. He was born in Racine on Sept. 24, 1947, to the late Charles Richard Lee Jr. and Ruth Warbington. He was a 1966 graduate of Horlick High School, and also attended UW–Parkside.

He proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1966 to 1969. He served one tour in Vietnam, 3rd Battalion, 5th Marine Corps.

Ric will be remembered by many for his career as a Racine County Deputy Sheriff. He also served the community through his involvement for 11 years as Deputy Friendly.

Ric was a man of many interests and talents. He loved music and playing the guitar; restoring cars and riding motorcycles; physical fitness, watching football from his Man Cave; traveling and scuba diving with his wife, Sharon.

Survivors include his wife, Sharon Lee, Mt. Pleasant; children, Jennifer Lee, Las Vegas, Nev., and Charles Richard ‘Ricky’ Lee IV (Erin), Dallas, Texas; grandchildren, Dwight ‘D.J’ Jones and Tyler Burns, Las Vegas; brothers and sister, Bradford (Maria) Lee, Jeffrey Lee, and Kimberly Lee (Edward Jenkins) all Racine; aunt Della Story, Milwaukee; mother-in-law, Ramona Petersen, Racine; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Chris (Susan) Petersen, Burlington, Cathy (Mark) Tegen, Two Rivers, and Su Petersen, Cornville, Ariz.; nieces and nephews, Julia Lee, Logan Lee, Catrina Tegen, Mitchell Tegen, and Maxwell Tegen; other relatives and many dear friends.

He was further preceded in death by his father-in-law, Thomas Petersen.

Funeral services are Monday, Nov. 9, at Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home, 4600 County Line Road, Racine, at 11 a.m., with Bishop Lawrence Kirby officiating. Interment and military honors will follow in Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Visitation in the funeral home is Sunday, Nov. 8, from 1-7 p.m., and on Nov. 9, beginning at 9:30 a.m.

In lieu of flowers Ric’s family has established a memorial fund to help support Deputy Friendly programs in Racine County. Donations can be made payable to “The Ric Lee Deputy Friendly Memorial Fund” at Educators Credit Union.
