BARBARA B. SCHERRER

Easter Lily      Barbara B. Scherrer, 84, Burlington, died Oct. 16, 2015, at her home. She was born Aug. 2, 1931, to the late Arthur and Helen (Selissen) Stutzke, The younger of two daughters, she grew up in Kenosha, attending St. Mary’s Grade School. She graduated from Mary D. Bradford High School. She then worked as a secretary in the offices of Nash Motors in Kenosha.

In 1952, she married Elmer H. Scherrer at St. Mary’s in Kenosha. They resided in Burlington, with Elmer working in the building construction trade and Barbara becoming a homemaker and mother. She was devoted to and took great pride in her family. She was an avid reader and enjoyed attending the Fireside Theater, playing cribbage and board games with family.

Survivors include children, Julie (Mike) Bequest, Peter (Julee) Scherrer; daughter-in-law, Deanna Scherrer; Bil (Rita) Scherrer, Jenifer (Mike) Nice, all Burlington, Ellen (Dan) Rosinski, Racine, and Amy Scherrer, Waterford; granddaughters, Katy Lockhart, Rebecca Faust, Leslie Scherrer-Pella, Brittney Christensen, Elizabeth Middleton, Stephanie Scherrer-Koppa, Melissa Nice, Rachel Nice, Jenna Rosinski and Jillian Busch; grandsons, Jonathan Scherrer, Robert Scherrer, Alex Nice and Ben Rosinski; great-grandchildren, Kylie, Mikaila, and Riley Lockhart, and Eli and John Faust; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

She was further preceded in death by her husband, Elmer; son, Jesse; and sister Ruth Ann.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. David Taylor and his staff for their care and compassion.

Memorials have been suggested to St. Charles Parish, Burlington.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Oct. 20, at St. Charles Catholic Church in Burlington, with the Rev. Jim Volkert officiating. Private burial was in All Saints Cemetery, Kenosha. Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home, Burlington, served the family.

  1. This is so sad to hear! Barbara was an amazing women and patriot! She was always sooooo excited every where she went and would bring joy to anyone she would come in contact with! She is definitely in a better place but the world lost and AMAZING person!
