ALLAN C. DORN

Easter Lily      Allan C. Dorn, 94, Burlington, died Feb. 13, 2015, at Burlington Rehab and Health Care Center.

He was born in Elkhorn on May 24, 1920, to the late Herman and Martha (Schmidt) Dorn. He spent his early life on the family farm and graduated from high school in Lake Geneva.

He was married to Marian Tomaszewski and they later divorced. He later married Lorraine Hollenbeck and she preceded him in death on March 18, 2011. Allan had been a Burlington resident since 1965. He worked for Bigelow Refrigeration for many years. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and he enjoyed fixing lawn mowers and working in the garden, particularly with geraniums.

Survivors include his children, Doug Dorn, Duane (Sue) Dorn, Dave Dorn; stepchildren, Bob (Diane) Adamek, John (Michelle) Adamek; brother, Freeman Dorn; 10 grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

He was further preceded in death by both wives; daughter, Darlene Ostrander; daughter-in-law, Judy Dorn; sister, Gladys Coerper; brother, Walter Dorn and his feline companion, Molly.

The family would like memorials to go to St. John’s Lutheran Church.

Services for Allan will be Thursday, Feb. 19, at St. John’s Lutheran Church beginning at noon with the Rev. Kirk Lahmann officiating. Family and friends may visit on Feb. 19, at church from 11-11:45 a.m. Burial will follow the service in Burlington Cemetery. Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home & Crematory, Burlington, is serving the family.

  1. Doug , Sorry to see this in the paper all my best wishes to you and your family. I just lost my mom last year. Not easy. Not sure you remember me but i have had a great time playing baseball at Lyons Springfield with you. I even remember your a lefty. I still live at same place I grew up at. Hope to see you sometime
