AGNES C. EHLEN

Easter Lily      Agnes C. Ehlen, 89, Lake Geneva, died unexpectedly at home on Oct. 25, 2015. She was born Jan. 26, 1926, in Brighton Township, to the late rank and Florence (Epping) Lohaus.

On Sept. 3, 1947, at St. Alphonsus Church, she married Fred W. Ehlen. Following marriage they made their home in Lyons Township where they raised their family. He preceded her in death on Nov. 15, 1991.

She worked as a chef for 25 years at Johnnie Reynolds in Lyons and in the meat department at Sentry in Lake Geneva for 10 years. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Church in Lyons and was a member of St. Rita’s Sodality in Lyons. She always enjoyed spending time with her family and liked being outdoors, tending to her garden. She loved being around people and in her quiet time she enjoyed cooking, baking and reading.

Survivors include her children, Gertrude (Terry) Ehlen, Lyons, Evelyn Ehlen, Lyons, Martin (Judith) Ehlen, Shawano, Steven (Beth) Ehlen, Adell, Bernard (Linda) Ehlen, Lyons, Jerome Ehlen, Mobile, Ala.; grandchildren, Adam Ehlen, Matthew Ehlen, Mark Ehlen, Eric Ehlen, Kayla (Dennis) Oehldrich, Cleveland, Wis., Jordan (Jill) Ehlen, Oshkosh, Brady (Hannah) Ehlen, Neenah; great-grandchildren, Logan Oehldrich, Trever Oehldrich, Sophie Oehldrich and one on the way; sister, Margaret Lohaus Ehlen; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

She was further preceded in death by her brother, Frank Lohaus; sister, Mary (Paul) Lohaus Ehlen; in-laws, George Ehlen, Charles (Dorothy) Ehlen, Helen (George Wagner and Lenny Brickner), Louise (Harold) Kayser, Theresa (Charles) Corcoran; grandchildren, Valerie Ehlen and Megan Ehlen.

The family would like to thank the Lyons Rescue Squad and doctors and medical staff at Aurora Hospital in Burlington, Elkhorn and Milwaukee and Dr. Warren and staff at Davita Dialysis in Lake Geneva for all their loving care and compassion. Also, a special thank you to all the friends and family who were supportive of us during mom’s illness.

Services for Agnes are Thursday, Oct. 29, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Lyons, with the Rev. Yamid Blanca presiding. Visitation for family and friends is Wednesday, Oct. 28, at Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home, 625 Browns Lake Drive, Burlington, from 4-8 p.m., and again Oct. 29. at church, from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Burial will follow the service in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
