VieAnna A. Allen, 72, Burlington, died June 25, 2014, at Oak Ridge Care Center, Union Grove.
She was born in Woodstock, Ill., on May 21, 1942, to Glenn C. and Alberta M. (Lent) Allen. She spent her early life in Genoa City and Lake Geneva where she graduated from high school.
On Sept. 15, 1974, she married Robert Allen in Greenville, S.C. Following marriage they made their home in Burlington. He preceded her in death on March 27, 2007.
She worked as a manager with John Hancock Insurance and American Girl Toy Co. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, reading and was involved with the Neighborhood Watch program for the Cedar Park Association.
Survivors include her mother, Alberta Allen, Burlington; siblings, Marion (George Rivest) Allen, Franksville, Lynn (Terry) Allen, Lake Geneva, Lucille (Larry) Netteshiem, Elkhorn, Eva Magill, Lake Geneva, Jerry (Nancy) Allen, Twin Lakes; brothers and sisters-in-law, Rusty Nelson, Watertown, Barbara Haugen, Burlington, JoAnn Hanson, Aurora, Ill., Jean (Richard) Johnson, Anchorage, Alaska, Roland (Maureen) Allen, Springfield, Mass., and Odean Allen, Dubuque, Iowa; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
She was further preceded in death by her father, and sister, Emily Nelson.
The family would like to thank the staff at St. Luke’s 12th floor, oncology; Dr. Syed Haider with Burlington Memorial Hospital, Oak Ridge Care Center and Vitas Hospice for their care and compassion.
Visitation is Saturday, June 28, from 10 a.m. until time of services at 1 p.m., at Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home, 625 Browns Lake Drive, Burlington, with Chaplain Larry Williams officiating.
