ROY F. FINNEY

Easter Lily    Roy F. Finney, 77, died July 4, 2014, at his home. He was born in Genesee, to the late James G. and Clara (Janda) Finney on Sept. 23, 1936. He was a social worker for Southern Wisconsin Center for 32 years, retiring in 1995. He received commendations from the Governor for his work.

He married his high school sweetheart, Barbara Brimmer, on June 28, 1958, at the Congregational Church in Genesee.

Survivors include his wife; son, Todd H. (Monica) Finney; grandchildren, Paige, Davis, Reena, and Brooke of Scottsdale, Ariz.; a stepbrother, Myron (Elizabeth) Tosher; sisters-in-law, Mabel Finney, Marleene (Richard) Bloom, Teri Borcard, Judith (Michael) Christianson, Marge (Robert) Beaster; brothers-in-law, Jeffrey (Ute) Hughes, Charles (Diane) Hughes, Richard (Vicki) Hughes, Thomas (Lorraine) Hughes; and nieces and nephews.

He was further preceded in death by his stepmother, Theresa; brother, James (Fran), Robert, Bruce (Janet), Gerald Toshner; sisters, Fern (Louis) Herris and Opal (Wendell) Nardell.

He was a member of the Community United Methodist Church of Waterford. He was a former president of the Waterford Jaycees. He was a 1955 of Waukesha High School and 1959 graduate of Milton College. As a young man he played baseball with the Genesee Land O’ Lakes team and played softball in Waterford for many years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and a former member of the River City Sporting Team. He and his wife enjoyed many winters at their home in Mesa, Ariz.

Family and friends may attend a visitation on Friday, July 18, 2014, from 10 a.m. to noon, at Community United Methodist Church, 455 S. Jefferson St., Waterford. There will be a memorial service at noon to honor Roy’s life with a luncheon to follow.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Waterford Union High Scholarship fund or to the Community United Methodist Church will be appreciated.
