ROSE A. BAUMEISTER

Easter Lily

Rose A. Baumeister, 95, Rochester, died peacefully at home with her family by her side on Feb. 13, 2014. She was born in Tomah on July 25, 1918, to the late Edward and Anna Houn. She was a graduate of Tomah High School.

On Dec. 26, 1946, she married William C. Baumeister. They lived on the Baumeister family farm in Rochester where they raised seven children. She worked for Burlington Mills for some time but her heart was in being a homemaker. She enjoyed playing the piano, especially “You are my Sunshine” or listening to the “Blue Skirt Waltz.” She also enjoyed gardening, picking berries, making homemade bread and dancing. She was a devoted member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church where she was a former member of the Christian Mothers.

Survivors include her children, Donald, Patricia Mann, Richard, Helen (Gerald) Wolter, Joan Rossmiller, Paul (Estela) and Arlene (Jim) Mansky; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

She was further preceded in death by her sisters and brothers, Sophia Hart, Albert, Linus and Lawrence Houn.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, Feb. 18, at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Gene Doda Jr. officiating. Visitation is in church on Tuesday morning from 9-10:45 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery. In lieu of floral expressions of sympathy, the family suggests memorials be made to St. Thomas Catholic Church. Mealy Funeral Home, Inc., is serving the family.
