ROBERT W. KOHLER

Robert W. ‘Bob’ Kohler, 59, Waukegan, Ill., died Jan. 6, 2014, at Aurora Medical Center. He was born May 17, 1954, in Waukegan, to the late Joseph and Irma (Ricke) Kohler.  He was a graduate of Carmel High School, Mundelein, Ill.

For 15 years, he was employed as a wing assembler with American Champion Aircraft.  Previously, he was employed with Johnson Motors and Abbott Labs.

Bob was very proud of and spent countless hours working on his flower gardens. He enjoyed touring Botanical Gardens. In addition, he enjoyed camping, woodworking and metalworking. He was also an avid Chicago Bears, Cubs and Black Hawks fan.

Survivors include his children, Carrie (Kevin) Pietschman, Kenosha, Robert J. Kohler, Waukegan; his sisters, Kathy Baxter, Beach Park, Ill., Mary (Gary) Bunch, Lake Villa, Ill., Patty Merz, Waukegan, Ill.; his grandchildren, Bridget, Jolie and William Pietschman; his dachshund, Foxy; his former wife and the mother of their children, Karen Kohler.

He was further preceded in death by siblings, Joe and Steve Kohler, Yvonne Seveska and Barb Kohler.

A memorial service in celebration of Bob’s life is Saturday, Jan. 18, at noon at the Piasecki-Althaus Funeral Home, 3720 39th Ave., Kenosha. A gathering of relatives and friends will be held at the funeral home  Jan. 18, from 10 a.m., until the time of service. Memorial remembrances to the family would be appreciated.
