RICHARD D. DAWSON

Richard D. ‘Rick’ Dawson, 58, Kansasville, died March 26, 2014, at his home, surrounded by his family.

He was born in Racine on Dec. 27, 1955, to Keith and Rose Dawson. He spent his early life in Union Grove where he graduated from high school. He attended M.S.O.E. and then graduated from UW–Parkside in 1978 with a degree in electrical engineering, He also obtained his pilot’s license in his earlier years.

On Oct. 9, 1987, he married Karen Ann McDonald, at St. Charles Catholic Church. Following marriage they made their home in Union Grove before moving to Kansasville in 1988.

His first job was working at the company his grandfather founded, Grove Gear, as an IT Manager. He also worked at Allen Bradley, Eaton, Oilgear Co., GE Medical Systems, Quad/Graphics, True North Consulting and was currently employed with Titan Incorporated in Sturtevant as the senior software engineer.

He was a member of NHRA, IHRA, NRA; was an avid drag racer since 1982 and was a great supporter of Great Lakes Dragaway. In his spare time he loved to restore cars, trucks and tractors with his only son, Sam. He was a collector and enjoyed going to tractor, truck and car shows.

Survivors include his wife; son, Sam; mother, Rose Dawson;  mother-in-law, Lois McDonald; siblings, Ken (Terri McCormick-Dawson) Dawson, Mike (Lisa) Dawson, Gail Dummer, Allen (Debbie) Dawson; brother and sister-in-laws, Kathy (Joe) Polacheck, Jim (Karen Renee) McDonald, Joanne (Mike) Ziesemer; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father; grandparents; and father-in-law, Albert McDonald.

In lieu of flowers memorials to the family for Sam’s education would be appreciated.

The family would like to thank Dr. Syed Haider and the staff at Lombardi Cancer Clinic, and all their family and friends for the love and support shown during this difficult time.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, March 29, at 11 a.m., at St. Charles Catholic Church, with the  Rev. Sergio Lizama officiating. Visitation will be at Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home 625 Browns Lake Drive, Burlington, on Friday, March 28, from 4-8 p.m.
