Lillian M. Henning, 86, died Nov. 30, 2014, at Village Glen in Lake Geneva.
She was born in Burlington on May 23, 1928, to the late Walter ‘Irv’ and Jessie (Schmaling) Anderson. She spent her early life in Burlington where she graduated from Burlington High School.
On June 19, 1948, she married Elmer H. Henning at St. John’s Lutheran Church. Following marriage they made their home in Rochester where they raised their family. He preceded her in death on Nov. 2, 2002.
She was a lifetime member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, helped Elmer run the farm in Rochester, served as Town of Rochester Treasurer for 26 years and had also worked as an insurance agent with Steffens Insurance. She volunteered as a 4-H Leader, was a member of St. John’s Owls and Rochester Fire Department Auxiliary. She also taught herself how to read Braille.
Survivors include her children, Walter (Mary) Henning, Rochester, Janel (Tom) Iverson, Rochester, Christine (Alex) Drake, Lyons; five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Joan Henning and Joan Fehr; and step sister-in-law, Betty Jo Rieck.
She was further preceded in death by her grandson, Jonathan Drake; brothers-in-law, Donald Henning and Eugene Henning; step sisters-in-law, Vera Koehnke and Marion Banks; and step brother-in-law, Warren Rieck.
Memorials to St. John’s Lutheran Church or Aurora Visiting Nurse Association would be appreciated.

Services are Friday, Dec. 5, at 11 a.m., at St. John’s Lutheran Church with the Revs. Daniel Waldschmidt and Kirk Lahmann officiating. Visitation is Dec. 4, from 4-8 p.m., at Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home, 626 Browns Lake Drive, Burlington, and on Friday, Dec. 5, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, from 10-10:45 a.m. Burial will follow the service in Burlington Cemetery.
