KENNETH R. JANKE

Easter Lily      Kenneth R. Janke, 78, Union Grove, died June 15, 2014, at Home Inspired Senior Living. He was born on May 6, 1936, to the late Alvin and Adelia (Thur) Janke in Robinsdale, Minn. When he was young, the family moved to Fairchild. He graduated from Fairchild High School and worked on the family farm as well as at King’s Cranberry Marsh in Augusta.

He was a proud U.S. Army veteran and had been stationed in Germany.

He married Susan Abrahamson on Aug. 31, 1963, in Augusta, Wis. They moved to Union Grove where he worked for Barden Rubber and the Racine County Highway Dept. (where he was known as The Buff) for 28 years retiring in 1997. He took great pride in his lawn, cars, and trees.

Survivors include his wife; son, Jeff (Cheryl) Janke; granddaughter, Amber; step-granddaughter, Marisa; sister, Carole (Charles) Collins, California; brothers-in-law, Bernard (Nancy) Abrahamson, River Falls, Charles (Sandy) Abrahamson, Fairchild, Lyle (Arlene) Abrahamson, Fairchild; sister-in-law, Carol (Lamoine) Anason, Neillsville; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin Janke and Adelia Selz; brother, Clark; and half-brother, Mertin Janke.

Visitation is Wednesday, June 18, from 3 p.m., until time of services at 5:30 p.m., at Union Grove United Methodist Church. The Rev. Milagros will officiate. Full military honors will immediately follow. A second service and burial will be held in his hometown of Fairchild, on Saturday, June 21. Miller-Reesman Funeral Home, Union Grove, is serving the family.
