John ‘Ward’ Mehring, 74, Waterford, died March 27, 2014, at Memorial Hospital of Burlington. He was born Aug. 22, 1939, in Burlington, to the late Cecil and Mary (Ward) Mehring Sr.

He attended St. Thomas Graded and Waterford High schools.

On May 8, 1965, he married Elizabeth A. ‘Betty’ Fiebelkorn, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Big Bend.

He worked many years in the shipping and receiving department at A.C. Supply in Milwaukee. He was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church, where he was an usher, organized the beer tent at the church’s Country Fair and coached boys and girls basketball. He was an avid Packers and Brewers fan. He was a dedicated bowler. From the time he was 18 he bowled on a weekly basis with leagues and tournaments. He also attended many state and national bowling tournaments. He loved to bowl.

Survivors include his wife; sons, Christopher of Neenah and David of Waterford; siblings, Margaret Collins, Edgerton, Paddy (Phil) Nannemann, Waterford, Cecil (Barb) Mehring Jr., Burlington; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary (Harvey) Sadler, Jeanne (Larry) Klepp, Pat (Tom) Victor, Mike (Mary) Fiebelkorn, Marge (Dan) Lewis, Joanne Winkler, Arlyce Fiebelkorn; nieces; nephews; great-nieces; nephews; other relatives and many, many friends.

He was further preceded in death by his brothers-in-law, Joe Collins and Jerry Fiebelkorn; mother and father-in-law, Ralph and Evelyn Fiebelkorn.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 1, at 6 p.m., at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 305 S. First St., Waterford. Visitation in church prior to Mass on Tuesday from 4-6 p.m. In lieu of floral expressions of sympathy, his family suggests memorials to either St. Thomas Church or MRF – Melanoma Research Foundation. Mealy Funeral Home, Waterford, is serving the family.
