John ‘Gweedo’ Manuel Garcia, 52, Burlington, died June 3, 2014, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Milwaukee. He was born May 3, 1962, to the late Manuel and Catherine (DeSantis) Garcia in New York. His early life was spent in Long Island. He had resided in the Burlington area since 1989.
On Aug. 23, 2003, he married Bernadette McGeough in Delavan. He had been employed by LDV.
He enjoyed the summer time and all the activities that went with it such as drag racing, spending time on his speedboat, working on vehicles, and sitting around campfires with friends and family. The Fourth of July was his favorite holiday. His favorite meal was pizza, which he could eat seven days a week. More than anything he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his many nieces and nephews.
Survivors include his wife; sisters, Nancy Snyder, Williams Bay, and Jane (Robert) Duston, Union Grove; nieces; nephews; cousins; relatives and friends.
He was further preceded in death by his sister, Mary.
A celebration of John’s life will be held at a later date. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family. Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home & Crematory, Burlington, is serving the family.
