IRMA L. SCHMELING

Easter Lily      Irma L. Schmeling, 91, Milton (formerly of Janesville), died June 18, 2014, at Milton Senior Living.

She was born on Sept. 6, 1922, in Muscoda, to the late Joseph H. and Mildred I. (Jones) Beran.

On June 9, 1945, she married Howard W. Schmeling in Milton, and together they had two children. He preceded her in death on June 2, 1991.

She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Janesville, where she was involved in numerous church circles. In her earlier years, she worked at Parker Pen and Amphenol Controls. She was a very gracious and gentle lady, who enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, along with sewing and gardening.

Survivors include her children: James (Carol) Schmeling, Janesville, Kathy (Richard) Reesman, Burlington; grandchildren, Dr. Tamara (Dr. Russell) Grant, York, Great Britain, Fr. Nathan Reesman, West Bend, and Aaron (Stephanie) Reesman, Twin Lakes; great-grandchildren whom she adored, Jacob, Madison, Emma, Sydney; brother, Archie Beran, Milton; sister-in-law, Vera Schmeling; brothers-in-law, Tom Snyder and Ken Schmeling; nieces and nephews.

She was further preceded by her granddaughter, Melissan Schmeling; sisters, Coila Snyder and Irene Davis; and brothers, Wayne Beran and Vivian Beran

Funeral services are Wednesday, June 25, at 11:30 a.m., at First Baptist Church, 3414 Woodhall Drive, Janesville, with the Rev. Jerry Amstutz officiating. Visitation is on Wednesday from 11 a.m., until the time of the service at the church. Interment will be next to her husband at Milton Lawns Memorial Park. Memorials made in Irma’s name to First Baptist Church would be greatly appreciated.
