GREGORY A. TREFFINGER

Easter Lily      Gregory A. ‘Greg’ Treffinger, 29, Town of Waterford, died April 20, 2014, in a tragic motorcycle accident.

He was born in Waukesha, to Patti Beck and Tom Treffinger. He graduated Waterford Union High School where he participated in FFA and football.  He and his brother, Tommy, attended many steer shows together, locally and around the mid-west. He worked as an excavator for Gunderson Excavating for nine years, and helped out on his family’s and his Uncle Rick’s farms. He was there to help anyone and was known as a man of all trades.

He was a true outdoorsman; bow hunting was his favorite. He loved to hunt, fish, and  spend any time outdoors that he could. When riding his snowmobile or motorcycle, he  had to be first in line, oftentimes referred to as the Trail Boss. He spent much time on the bike with his wonderful friends, riding to Tomahawk and other areas. He had a never-ending zest for life and an engaging smile that lit up a room.

After his beloved Grandpa Tony died, he said to his mom, “the sun will come up tomorrow.” That phrase then became a common motto for him in life.

Survivors include his loving parents; brother, Tommy (Emily); nieces, Lillian, Madelyn; nephew/godson, Case Treffinger of Palmyra;  honorary brothers, Jeremy, Anthony, Andy; honorary sister, Alexi; grandparents, Betty Beck-Hoelzel, Tom and Mary Treffinger; uncles, John (Karen) Beck, Rick (Kristi) Beck, Jeff Beck; aunt, Terri (Lee) Kehl; great-aunts and uncles; cousins and many wonderful friends.

Visitation is Friday, April 25, from 4-8 p.m., with vigil services starting at 8 p.m., at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 305 S. First St., Waterford. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, April 26, at 11 a.m., at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Mealy Funeral Home, Waterford, is serving the family.
