Gladys M. Bangert, 84, Waterford, died Jan. 9, 2014, at Hospice Alliance in Pleasant Prairie.
She was born in Vancouver, British Columbia on Oct. 28, 1929, to the late Cyril and Audrey (Coleman) Jones. She lived in Vancouver until the age of 10 when her family moved to England.
On April 7, 1951, in Winnipeg Manitoba, Canada, she married Ronald Bangert. Following marriage they lived in Chicago and Berwyn, Ill., before moving to Wisconsin where she had resided for the past 23 years. He preceded her in death on Feb. 16, 2012.
She was a member of Congregational Church in Rochester where she was active doing volunteer work. She visited shut-ins, enjoyed reading, knitting, crocheting and spending time with her family. She loved pets, especially cats.
Survivors include her children, Ronald (Marylyn) Bangert Jr., Audrey (John) Schanning; granddaughter, Sheri (fiancé, Roman Graebel) Schanning; great-grandson, Cain Aulich; and sister-in-law, Betty Bangert.
She was further preceded in death by her brother, Harold Jones.
The family would like to thank the staff at Burlington Hospital ICU, Aurora Nursing Association and all their staff, and Hospice Alliance for their care and compassion.
A private inurnment will take place at a later date at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Cemetery. Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home & Crematory, Burlington, is serving the family.
