GARY E. SCHAEFER

Gary E. Schaefer, 77, Burlington, died April 26, 2014, at Kindred Nursing & Rehab in Burlington. He was born in Baraboo on April 9, 1937, to the late Harland J. and Nona A. (Holman) Schaefer. He spent his early life in Burlington where he graduated from high school. On June 7, 1968, he married Judith DeGrave. Following marriage they made their home in Burlington. He worked in maintenance at Lakeland Nursing Home. He loved to fish, especially ice fishing, hiking, hunting, tending to his vegetable garden and spending time with his family. Survivors include his wife; daughter, Jill Schaefer, Burlington; brothers, David (Sharon) Schaefer, Burlington, Dan (Jeanne) Schaefer, Sonoma, Calif., John (Bernice) Schaefer, Grantsburg, Kurt (Doris) Schaefer, Lake City, Fla.; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends. He was further preceded in death by his brother, Jeffrey. Memorials to Burlington United Methodist Church Choir are suggested. Services are Thursday, May 1, at 7 p.m., at Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home, 625 Browns Lake Drive, Burlington, with the Rev. Ebenezer Insor officiating.
