EUGENE D. ALBEE

Easter Lily

Eugene D. Albee, 88, Burlington, died Feb. 6, 2014, at Waterford Senior Living Center.

He was born Nov. 6, 192,5 to the late Lawrence and Nellie (Funk) Albee in Waterford. His early life was spent in Waterford where he graduated from Waterford High School. After high school Eugene attended the Milwaukee School of Cosmetology.

On Sept. 2, 1950, he married Lois Milatz at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Burlington. Following marriage they resided in Burlington where he owned and operated Eugene’s Beauty Shoppes in Burlington and Waterford. He was a very active member of Cross Lutheran Church where he served as past president of the church council. He also was a member of the Burlington Rotary Club for more than 50 years, where he had earned the Paul Harris Fellow Award.  He loved to sing and was in the Barber Shop Quartet and was a member of the Burlington Hospital Auxiliary, where he used his talent to fashion hairpieces for people with cancer.

His favorite place in the whole world was his cottage on the river in Waterford. There he enjoyed gardening, planting flowers and piloting the pontoon boat. He was a veteran of the Korean War and had served as a Master Sergeant in the Army.

Survivors include his children, Nancy (Dr. L. Kevin) Hamberger, Franklin, Neal (Janelle) Albee, Wyoming, Minn.; grandchildren, Heidi (Joel) Boyd, Alex Hamberger, Nicole Albee, Christopher (Emilie Lisburg) Albee, Jacob Albee; one great-grandchild, Clara Macy Jean Boyd; his brother, Winston Albee, Lyons; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

He was further preceded in death by his wife; one sister and four brothers.

In Lieu of flowers the family has suggested memorials be made to Cross Lutheran Church.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Waterford Senior Living and to Allay Hospice for all their care and concern.

Funeral services are Monday, Feb. 10, at 7 p.m., at Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home, 625 Browns Lake Drive, Burlington. Relatives and friends may visit with the family Feb. 10, from 3:30-6:30 p.m., at the funeral home. The family will have a private burial at Burlington Cemetery.
