DOROTHY M. OLDENBERG

Dorothy M. Oldenberg, 86, Burlington, died May 6, 2014, at Lakeland Health Care Center in Elkhorn. She was born in Burlington on Aug. 3, 1927, to the late Edward and Florence (Reesman) Jackley. She had been a lifetime resident of Burlington, graduating from St. Mary’s High School.

On March 10, 1951, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, she married Raymond A. Oldenberg Sr. He preceded her in death on Feb. 1, 1988.

She was a homemaker and member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. She enjoyed playing bingo, but her greatest joy was spending time with her family, sisters, and grandchildren. She loved watching her grandchildren in all their sporting events.

Survivors include her children, Mary (Tom) Weidert, Raymond Jr. ‘Jay’ (Dawn) Oldenberg, Ken (Deb) Oldenberg, Eric (Deb) Oldenberg, Amy (Dan) Rueter; grandchildren, Nicholas (Janelle) Weidert, Jeff Weidert, Sara Weidert, Josh (Christine) Oldenberg, Jamie Oldenberg (John Bushman), Amy (Garth) Barham, Chris Oldenberg, Erika (Mark) Noble, Justine Oldenberg (Eric Drohner), Danielle Rueter (Bob Schmidt), Nolan Rueter, and Ali Rueter; great-grandchildren, Delaney and Hunter Weidert, Callie Oldenberg, and Natalie Barham; sisters, Ruth (Jack) Berry, Betty (Jim) Uhen, Alice (Ted) Zaspel; sister-in-law, Marian Oldenberg.

She was further preceded in death by her siblings, Loretta (Leo) Zinnen, Mary (Chuck) Lois, Mickey (Smitty) Kerkhoff, Eddie Jackley; brothers and sisters-in-law, Don and Agnes Oldenberg, Harold and Lorraine Oldenburg, Ralph Oldenberg, Cliff and Doris Knutson.

Memorials to Lakeland Health Care Center – Parkinson’s Foundation would be appreciated.

The family would like to thank everyone at Lakeland Health Care Center for the great care given to Dorothy and to the wonderful staff at Season’s Hospice.

Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday, May, 12, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church at 10 a.m., with the Rev. Jim Volkert officiating. Burial will follow the service in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 11, from 1-5 p.m., at Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home, 625 Browns Lake Drive, Burlington.
