Dennis C. Crombie, 79, died July 7, 2014, at Pine Brooke Pointe. He was born in Oshkosh on Sept. 30, 1934, to the late Leslie and Bernice (Meitzen) Crombie. He spent his early life in Oshkosh where he graduated from Oshkosh High School in 1952.
He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1953 to 1957.
He attended the University of Oshkosh where he received his Bachelor of Secondary Education degree in 1961. He worked as a social worker at Southern Wisconsin Center from 1967 until his retirement in 2004. He was a member of Cross Lutheran Church, enjoyed playing baseball for SWC Tigers and the Waterford Rivermen, was an active volunteer in social and political activities and was a former member of the Village of Rochester Planning Commission.
Survivors include his sister-in-law, Judith Crombie, Oshkosh; niece, Cathy Sacho, California; nephews, Nick Crombie, New Mexico, Jeff Crombie, Seymour; aunts; uncles; other relatives and friends.
He was further preceded in death by his brother, Richard Crombie.

Services are Thursday, July 10, at 6 p.m., at Cross Lutheran Church, Burlington, with the Rev. Carolyn Sellers officiating. Visitation is July 10 at church from 4-6 p.m. Burial will be July 11, at noon in Riverside Cemetery, Oshkosh. Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home & Crematory, Burlington, is serving the family.
