CLIFFORD D. CLAPP

Clifford D. Clapp, 82, Lyons, died Jan. 21, 2014, at St. Luke’s Medical Center, Milwaukee. He was born in Lake Geneva on Oct. 5, 1931, to the late Clifford M. and Sarah E. (Storey) Clapp. He lived his early life in Lake Geneva and graduated from Burlington High School.

He served his country, in the U.S. Army, during the Korean War.

On June 30, 1956, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Lyons, he married Joyce Ann Ahler. Following marriage they made their home in the Lyons area where they raised their family.

He was a maintenance/welder for Trent Tube in East Troy. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Lyons, and a long time member of the Serra Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, gardening, camping and playing cards.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce; children, Jeffrey (Susan) Clapp, Waukesha, Dennis (Theresa) Clapp, Burlington, Mary (Jim) Burd, Ashville, N.C., Kenneth (Digna) Clapp, Greenfield, Karol (Phil) Koenen, Burlington, Tony (Andrea) Clapp, Burlington; grandchildren, Greg (Adrien) Clapp, Becky Clapp, Jessica Clapp, Kristina (Marc-Louis) Paprzyca, Gabrielle Clapp, Kelly Burd, Megan (Forrest) Wright, Peter Koenen, Abigail Koenen, Gracie Clapp, Ella Clapp, Brinley Clapp, Cooper Clapp; great-grandchildren, Kylin and Easton Wright; brothers, Dorance Clapp, Springfield, Raymond (Karen) Clapp, Williams Bay; sisters, Verneta Hudson, Milwaukee, and Judy (Jim) Slack, Elkhorn.

He was further preceded in death by his sisters, Evelyn Quass, Esther Powell, Eleanor Borgan and Betty Fortney.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, Jan. 25, at 1 p.m., at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Lyons. The Rev. John Baumgartner will officiate. Visitation is from 10 a.m., until the time of Mass at church. Burial will follow Mass at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home & Crematory, Burlington, is serving the family.

Memorials have been suggested to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church or to L’Arche, 151 S. Ann St., Mobile, AL 36604.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the doctors and nurses at St. Luke’s Medical Center and all the staff at Fresenius Dialysis for their care and compassion.
