CLARENCE L. JOHNSON

Easter Lily  Clarence L. ‘LeRoy’ Johnson, 78, Union Grove, died Feb. 2, 2014, at Hospice House in Pleasant Prairie. He was born May 19, 1935, to the late Clarence and Florence (O’Brien) Johnson in Willow Springs Township. He grew up in Darlington and was a proud member of Darlington High School class of 1954. After graduation he served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956.

On Feb. 8, 1958, he married Edna Jannette Gross. Following marriage they resided in Darlington, moved to Yorkville in 1968 and then to Union Grove in 1975. He worked as a custodian for the Yorkville School District before retiring in 1995. He was most happy when he was spending time with his family and friends. He always had a joke or two to share. He enjoyed tinkering around on a variety of projects. He loved sports especially the Indianapolis Colts and the St. Louis Cardinals.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years; children, Brenda (Mike) Brand, Crivitz, Kristi (Rick) Wahlen, Union Grove, Rory (Tina) Johnson, Yorkville, Cory (Kim) Johnson, Union Grove; daughter-in-law, Cindy Johnson, Union Grove; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; siblings, Joyce Demuth, Mildred Thompson, Jack (Peggy) Johnson, Gaylord (Janet) Johnson; sisters-in-law, Shirley (Donald) Bennett and Connie Kilcoyne; brother-in-law, Robert (Laura) Gross; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

He was further preceded in death by his son, Lee; brother, Ronald; brothers-in-law, Eugene Thompson, Larry Kilcoyne and James Demuth.

A Time of Remembrance is Thursday, Feb. 6, 2014, at 7 p.m., at Polnasek-Daniels Family Funeral Home, 908 11th Ave., Union Grove. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Feb. 6, from 4:30-6:30 p.m., at the funeral home. Burial with full military honors is Friday, Feb. 7, at 10 a.m., at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Union Grove. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Hospice Alliance, at the Hospice House, for all their care and compassion and to all the friends and family who visited and sent cards to LeRoy.
