CLAIRE M. COWAN

Easter Lily      Claire Marie Cowan, 54, died at her home in Burlington on July 2, 2014, surrounded by her family.

She was born April 18, 1960, in Burlington, to the late Robert and Jeanne Daniels. She graduated from St. Mary’s High School. She was a bookkeeper at the Burlington Farmers Supply after high school and there she met her future husband. She later worked for Wisconsin Vision and finished out her career at Wheaton Franciscan Counseling Center, Burlington.

She married David Cowan Jr. on April 11, 1981, at St. Mary’s church. They raised three children on the family farm. She was devoted to her family, the family she was born to and the family she and Dave created. She loved being surrounded by her children and spent countless hours playing with them, helping them with 4-H projects, attending their sporting events and making her delicious cookies. She also loved crafts and participated in many craft sales over the years selling her homemade projects. She was a fabulous basket weaver and many people are still using the baskets she made for them years ago. She loved to cook for family and friends and had recently started cake decorating and shared her creations for special occasions.

One of her greatest joys came the day she became a grandmother, and she cherished the time she was able to spend with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband; children, Dan (Crystie) Cowan, Kate Cowan, Julie (Chris) Morby; grandchildren, Cole, Kennedy, Cayden Cowan, Alexis Morby; siblings, Bill (Janet Anastasi) Daniels, Anne (Dan) Crowley, Tim (Lynne) Daniels, Eileen Daniels, Paul (Peg) Daniels, Peter (Shannon) Doolan, Janet (Jim) Vogelsang, Tom (Doris) Daniels, Gerry (Amy) Daniels, Joe Daniels; her mother- and father-in-law, Linda and David Cowan Sr.; brothers-in-law, Don (Jeanine) Cowan, Jim (Sue) Cowan; aunts, Sister Dorothy Doolan, Helen Miller, Jane McCourt; uncles, Jack Daniels and Harry Wesley; godparents, Robert Miller and Mary Legan; nieces; nephews; cousins and friends.

She was further preceded in death by her grandparents.

The family would like to thank Dr. Young Choi and the nursing staff at All Saints chemotherapy center and Hospice for the loving care they gave Claire during her course of treatment.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday July 8, at 10 a.m., at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Lyons. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Monday July 7, from 4-8 p.m., at Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home, 625 Browns Lake Drive, Burlington. Burial will follow service in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Dover.

  3. I am so sorry for your loss. I would like to be there for the services, but One Step at A time camp begins Monday. It is a children with cancer camp. They always remind me to make the most of life and enjoy everyday just as Claire did. The first day we have a memorial for friends and family we have lost in the past year. I will remember Claire and your family. Peace be with you.
