CHARLES C. STONE JR.

Easter Lily      Charles C. ‘Mike’ Stone Jr., 78, Burlington, died Dec. 26, 2014, at his home. He was born Oct. 17, 1936, to Charles and Jessie (Musselwhite) Stone in Macon, Ga. His early life was spent in Butler, Ga.

On April 6, 1968, he married the late Mary Everhart. She preceded him in death on Dec. 20, 1983. On July 27, 1991, he married Marilyn Coon Runk at the Apostle Presbyterian Church, West Allis. He resided in Burlington the past 41 years.

He taught science for 30 years at Greenfield Middle School where he was recognized as Educator of the Year in 1983 by the Greenfield Chamber of Commerce. He was an active member of Apostle Presbyterian Church.

He enjoyed the outdoors; he loved canoeing, fishing, camping and chasing lighthouses. He also enjoyed woodworking and helping others by volunteering at LOVE Inc. and serving in mission work locally and across the U.S.

Survivors include his wife; children, Jessiene (Tom) Bruce, Cleveland, Texas, Michael (Natalie) Stone, Sun Prairie, Mitchell (Annette) Stone, Mazomanie, and Julie (Daniel) Stone-Busch, Burlington; grandchildren, David, Joshua (Jessica), Daniel, and Caleb Bruce, Shannon, Sawyer, Tucker, and Andrea Stone, and Jacob Busch.

In lieu of flowers, memorials for Mike may be made to Love Inc., 480 S. Pine St., Burlington, or Ferncliff Presbyterian Disaster Assistance, 1720 Ferncliff Road, Little Rock, AR 72223.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff who cared for Mike at St. Luke’s Hospital in Milwaukee, especially Dr. Rubina Qamar.

Memorial services are Friday, Jan. 2, at 4 p.m., at Apostle Presbyterian Church, 1509 S. 76th St., West Allis, WI 53214. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Jan. 2, from 9-11 a.m., at Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home, 625 Browns Lake Drive, Burlington, and then again, from 2-4 p.m., at the church. Burial will take place in Burlington Cemetery at a later date.
