CARYL W. KOHOUT

Easter Lily      Caryl W. Kohout, 85, Burlington, died Aug. 12, 2014, at Personally Yours Elder Care in Waterford.

She was born in Burlington, on June 15, 1929, to the late Robert and Nora (Gehrand) Winkler. She spent her early life in Rochester. She was a graduate of Racine County Agricultural School and attended secretarial school in Milwaukee.

On June 12, 1954, she married Robert R. Kohout. They had been Burlington area residents most of their marriage. Caryl worked as a private secretary for a trust company, but her most rewarding job was being a mother. She was a wonderful homemaker and loved to bake for her family and church. She was a member of Plymouth Congregational Church, a member of the bell choir, sang in the choir and volunteered with various church activities. She also volunteered with the hospital auxiliary. She loved to travel, watch sports and play golf.

Survivors include her husband; children, Mark (Heidi) Kohout, Sue (Dick) Jansen and Jeff (Mary Jo) Kohout; grandchildren, Kelly (Todd), Brady, Jarred, Stephanie (Rob), Eric (Andrea Reichelt), Wendy (Dan), Jenna, Carly and Jolee; great-grandchildren, Tessalee, John, Nathan, Andrew, Adam, Landon and Elaina; sister-in-law, Dorothy Winkler; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends, especially those friends at Personally Yours.

She was further preceded in death by her brother, Robert Winkler.

The family would like to thank the staff at Personally Yours, Aurora VNA Home Care and Heartland Hospice for their care and compassion. A special thank you goes to Sherri Barker and her daughters Sherrell and Christena.

Services are scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 21, at Plymouth Congregational Church at 6 p.m. Visitation is at the church on Aug. 21, from 4-5:45 p.m. Inurnment will take place at a later date. Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home & Crematory, Burlington, is serving the family.
