Bernadine I. Henningfield, 89, Elkhorn, died April 26, 2014, at Aurora Lakeland Medical Center, surrounded by her family. She was born on Jan. 5, 1925, to the late Alex and Mary Baumeister.
She was born and raised on her parent’s dairy farm, and lived in the Elkhorn and Burlington area all her life. She belonged to the Elkhorn and Lake Geneva Seniors. She enjoyed gardening, bingo and playing cards. She also was a riveter during the war with J.I. Case, and helped assemble wings for B-26 bombers.
She married Louie at St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Burlington on Nov. 27, 1943. He preceded her in death in 2012.
She cherished her time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and will be greatly missed by them.
Survivors include her children, Wayne (Melinda) Henningfield, Medford, Ore., Steve (Bonnie) Henningfield, Madison; Betty (John) Coates, Stevens Point; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was further preceded in death by her daughter, Sharon, and three grandsons.
The family would like to thank VNA Hospice and all the staff at Lakeland Medical Center for the care and comfort they provided Bernie. Private family services will be held at a later date. Haase-Lockwood & Associates Funeral Homes and Crematory assisted the family
