MELDA R. FINE

Imelda Rosalie Fine, 95, Elkhorn, died July 23, 2013, at Aurora Lakeland Medical Center. She was born April 5, 1918, in Lyons, to the late Joseph and Katherine Hopkins. She spent her early life in Lyons.

On April 17, 1941, she married the love of her life Chester I. Fine, who preceded her in death on Jan. 7, 2002. Following marriage they resided in Burlington until 1962, they then moved to North Cape, and she had been a resident of Elkhorn for the past five years.

She was a member of St. Mary’s Parish in Burlington, and then St. Robert Bellarmine Parish in Union Grove. She ran “CHET’S CLUB 45” tavern in North Cape with her husband. She loved shopping and spending time with her family.

Survivors include her grandchildren, Jeffrey (Judy) Fine, Becky (Don) Rychlak, Jodie (Steve) Statler; great-grandchildren, Caitlyn (Daniel) Fine-Wiley, Kirstin and Kiley Fine, Drake and Dylan Statler, Sarah and Ryan Rychlak; and by great-great-granddaughter, Charlotte Wiley.

She was further preceded in death by her children, James, Patricia, and Gerald, and by seven brothers and sisters.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, July 26, at 11 a.m., at St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Dover Cemetery. Polnasek-Daniels Funeral Home & Crematory, Union Grove, is serving the family.

Memorials to St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church are suggested.

Imelda’s family would like to say a special thank you to Dr. Lisa Simmonds for all her care and compassion over the years.

  1. Grandma “Rosie” will be missed by ALL who knew her. Her family was the most important thing in her life and she NEVER failed to show it. She had the biggest heart of anyone I have ever known. She will forever impact our lives!

    We were sorry to read of the passing of your grandma Rosie. She was always so faithful in attending the police memorial service. We have missed her the last couple years.
