MARY J. RADTKE

Easter Lily

Mary Jane Radtke, 82, died Nov. 17, 2013, at her home in Pleasant Prairie. She was born Nov. 7, 1931, in Burlington, to the late Ernest and Lucy (Sagert) Umnus. She spent her early life in Burlington where she attended school, graduating from Burlington High School.

She married Richard K. Radtke. Following marriage they made their home in Kenosha where they raised their family. He preceded her in death April 26, 1997.

She worked at American Motors/Chrysler for 27 years where she was a member of Local 72, chairperson of the Women’s Activity Board and recording secretary of WI State C.A.P. She traveled around to different parts of the country fulfilling her duties in those positions.

She was an avid crafter and loved to share all the treasures she created.

Survivors include her daughters, Roxann (Walter) Graeber and Amber (Edward) Carey; grandchildren, Arianne Carey, Brian Carey, Sheila Trussell, Jack Carey, Wally Graeber; eight great-grandchildren and one on the way; siblings, William Umnus, Jack Umnus, Florence ‘Snooks’ Sell, Lucy ‘Cookie’ Warner and Geraldine Akre.

She was further preceded in death by her grandson, James Carey; sister, Pauline Eskstein; brothers, Warren Umnus and Robert Umnus.

A memorial gathering will is Saturday, Nov. 23, from noon-2 p.m., at Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home, 625 Browns Lake Drive, Burlington.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society.
