MARK W. TAYLOR

Easter Lily      Mark W. Taylor, 50, Burlington, died Dec. 9, 2013, at his home, after a short, but hard fought battle with cancer.

He was born in Kenosha, April 24, 1963, to Wm. M. and Lynne D. (Olson) Taylor.  He spent his early life in Platteville where he graduated from Platteville High School in 1981. He received his Bachelor of Science from UW–Platteville and his Masters from Northern Illinois University.

On June 25, 1988, at St. Mary’s Church in Platteville, he married Lynn Klaas. Following marriage they made their home in Marion, Iowa, Sycamore, Ill., Kansasville, and Clarkston, Mich., before moving to Burlington in 2007. He was a Director of Safety at Silgan Containers.

During high school he was a five sport athlete including being an all-state football player in his senior year. He loved sports and enjoyed coaching his children in baseball and basketball, in both Michigan and Burlington. He liked traveling, hiking, boating, golfing, biking and ran some half marathons in Las Vegas. His greatest love in life was his family and being involved with his children in their various sporting activities.

Survivors include his wife; children, Tyrel N. Taylor, USAF in South Korea, Tell N. Taylor, Trent N. Taylor and Teagan N. Taylor, all of Burlington; his mother, Lynne, Platteville; siblings, Lance (Theresa) Taylor, Verona, Brad (Stefanie) Taylor, Vero Beach, Fla., Beth (Dan) Reetz, Burlington; mother-in-law, Jeanette Klaas, Platteville; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father in 2006, his grandparents and his father-in-law, Robert Klaas.

The family would like to thank Drs. Haider and Pannu and the team of Hospice nurses and staff that helped during this difficult time.

A Celebration of Life for Mark is Sunday, Dec. 22, at Veterans Terrace at Echo Park, 589 Milwaukee Ave., Burlington, at 2 p.m. Visitation is at Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home, 625 Browns Lake Drive, Burlington, on Saturday, Dec. 21, from noon to 4 p.m.
