KENNAN NELSON

Kennan Nelson, 56, Kansasville, died peacefully at his home on Nov. 24, 2013, after a valiant battle against pulmonary fibrosis.

He was born in Eau Claire on Jan. 9, 1957, to the late Lucille Nelson. He was raised in Burlington and graduated from Case High School in Racine.

He retired as a Cottage Supervisor for Southern Wisconsin Center after 30 years of service. In his free time he loved to ride his motorcycle, play pool, and throw horseshoes with his leagues. An outdoorsman, he loved adventure and went whitewater rafting, camping, and most recently, had a successful musky hunt with his brother-in-law, John Venzke. Kennan’s family will remember his fun loving, independent, and spontaneous personality.

Survivors include his siblings, Gary Nelson (Marge Wyman), Madison, Susan R. (John) Nelson Venzke, Neillsville, Kim (Lorrie) Nelson, Aransas Pass, Texas; his nephew, Stephen Nelson, Algoma; and his niece, Georgette (Blake) Teschner, Marshfield.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Lucille Smith in 2001, and his nephew, James R. Nelson in 2004.

Visitation is Friday, Nov. 29, from 4-6 p.m., with a memorial service at 6 p.m., at Miller-Reesman Funeral Home, 620 15th Ave., Union Grove.
