KATHLEEN L. COWAN

Kathleen L. Cowan, 99, Burlington, died Oct. 22, 2013, with family and friends at her side.

She was born in Gateshead, England, on May 6, 1914, to the late Charles E. and Sara (Armstrong) Curry. She spent her early life in Canada, Oklahoma, and Chicago where she graduated from high school and secretarial school.

In September of 1934, in Chicago, she married George Cowan. They made their home in Chicago, and Woodstock, before moving to Slades Corners in 1951. Following George’s death in November of 1975, she moved to Burlington.

She was a housewife, farmer and secretary. She was a member of Plymouth Congregational Church, Kenosha Co. Homemakers, Eastern Star, Hospital Auxiliary and 4-H. She loved traveling, flowers, crossword puzzles and reading.

Survivors include her sons, George (Cheryl), David (Linda), Kenneth (Barbara) and Alexander ‘Sandy’ (Nancy); 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

She was further preceded in death by her  brother, Fred; and  great-grandson, Grant Alexander Cowan.

Memorials to Plymouth Congregational Church, 124 W. Washington Ave., Burlington, WI 53105 would be appreciated.

Per Kathleen’s wishes a private family burial has taken place. Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home & Crematory, Burlington, served the family.

    Kathleen was a true friend to our Aunt Mary Jane. She was a great lady who leaves a wonderful family legacy.
