Julia (Ramon) Mendez, 79, died March 23, 2013, at her residence in Union Grove. She was born Feb. 16, 1934, in Crystal City, Texas, to the late Reynaldo and Rita Ramon.
She was married to the love of her life Francisco “Frank” Mendez on Sept. 25, 1954, at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, Waterford.
She worked for 25 years at Foster Forbes, Burlington, was a member of St. Clare Catholic Church, Wind Lake, and loved to crochet. But her favorite hobby was her family.
Survivors include her daughters, Estella (Mark) Makisen, Graciela (David) Bierer, Hilda (Keith) Matthes, Patricia (Carl) Patzke, Julia (Kristopher) Mageske; grandchildren, Jacob, Jessica, Haley, Thomas, Rita, Jonathan, Jed, Carla, Danielle, and Emmett; special niece, Maricela Rodriguezl great-niece Christa Rodriguez; 12 great-grandchildren; sisters, Maria Elida Ramon, and Josefina (Alfonso) Chairez; brother, Reynaldo (Bonnie) Ramon.
She was further preceded in death by her husband; brother, Juan Ramon; twin sisters Dora Elia and Irma Yolanda Ramon.
Services are Wednesday April 3, at noon at St. Clare Catholic Church with a memorial gathering from 10 a.m. to 11:45 a.m., at church. A committal service is Wednesday April 3, at 2 p.m., at Southern Wisconsin Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, Union Grove. Mealy Funeral Home, Waterford, is serving the family.
