Joan ‘J.T.’ Trudy Schuster, 73, died Sept. 16, 2013, in Antigo.

She was born July 3, 1940, at Post Lake, to the late Carl and Elfrieda (Gunkel) Schuster. She graduated from Antigo High School in 1958.  She graduated from Valparaiso in 1963, with BA in physical education, Spanish, and health. She later earned a master’s degree from UW-Whitewater.

She taught in Chesterton, Ind., for four years, then at Waterford High School for 36 years. She was a teacher in the fields of physical education, first aid, health, and drugs/narcotics education. She also started the school’s Spanish program in 1980. She coached volleyball, softball, pompoms, and cheerleading. After retiring from teaching, she worked at the Old Hen House where she assisted with glass art and selling crafts. She was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church.

Survivors include her brother, Fred (Elaine) Schuster, Weston; niece, Kathy (Don) Stinson; nephews, Jeff (Kristina) Schuster and Jim (Kathy Koenig) Schuster; a great-niece; seven great-nephews; special friends, Penny Kettlewell and Cindy Dabel; and her beloved corgi, Casey Lu.

She was further preceded in death by her twin sister, Jean Schuster, and a brother, Jim Schuster.

Visitation is Friday, Sept. 20, from 9:30-11 a.m., with a funeral service at 11 a.m. at Calvary Lutheran Church, 310 S. Superior St. Antigo. The Rev. Karen Tews will officiate. Interment will follow at Elmwood Cemetery. Strasser-Roller Funeral Home is assisting the family.
