IVY JACOBSON

Easter Lily

Ivy Jacobson, 94, died Oct. 4, 2013. She was born Jan. 26, 1919, to the late William and Caroline Brauch in Milwaukee.

She married Arnold H. ‘Arnie’ Jacobson from the Town of Norway on Nov. 19, 1941, at North Cape Lutheran Church. They resided at the Jacobson family farm, where they raised their children. He preceded her in death.

She was multi-talented as a housewife, chicken farmer, part-time doctor, small body repair specialist, varmint killer, shuttle and tractor driver, preacher, storyteller, philosopher, clairvoyant [but we went crying to her anyway, even though she was right], (our faces never did freeze that way), and best mom ever. Besides being a mom she loved her big garden, cooking, sewing, working on crossword puzzles, playing her button box accordion, shopping trips with the girls, and was always ready to help in the fields. She also spent a tremendous amount of time guiding and transporting her son Dale to doctors and various therapies because of his visual handicap.

She leaves her remaining family with many warm thoughts, and fond memories.

Survivors include her daughter, Carol (Joseph) Kunovar, Beverly (Roy) Gawlitta; sisters-in-law; many nieces and nephews.

She was further preceded in death by her son, Dale; brothers, Roy, Melvin, William and Earl; and sister, Madeline Foat.

The family would like to give a big hug and thank you to all of her ‘angels’ (the caregivers and staff) of the Kindred Nursing and Care Facility in Burlington who cared for her during her long nine-year run at the K.N.C.F.

Memorial donations to North Cape Lutheran Church in Ivy’s name would be appreciated.

Funeral services will be held at North Cape Lutheran Church, 2644 124th St., Franksville, at 11 a.m., on Wednesday, Oct. 9. Visitation will be at North Cape Lutheran Church from 10-11 a.m., on Oct. 9. Mealy Funeral Home, Waterford, is serving the family.
