GILMORE C. GULBRANSON

 

Gilmore Charles Gulbranson, 79, Barrington, Ill., died March 8, 2013, in Lake Zurich, Ill. He was born March 14, 1933, in Burlington, to the late Benjamin Gilmore and Bertha Henrietta Gulbranson.

He worked at Continental Bank for 23 years, serving as second vice president of Continental Bank in Chicago. He later worked at Clayton Brown and Associates, one of the nation’s leading municipal bond firms, before retiring.

He served in the U.S. Army (Korea), graduating from Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., and was a member of St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Barrington for 40 years.

He played the violin since his youth and was a member of the Northwest Symphony Orchestra for 32 years. He also was an avid golfer and a member of Stonehenge Golf Club in Barrington for 30 years.

Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Mary Ann; children, Jeffrey (Barbara) Gulbranson, South Bend, Ind., Rebecca Gulbranson, Algonquin, Christine (Bryan) Heinrich, Cary, Rachel (Jason) McDougall, Carpentersville, Erica Gulbranson, Orfordville; grandchildren, Kimberly, Emma, Austin, August and Benjamin; his sister, Marietta Hangartner, Alameda, Calif.

Funeral services are Thursday, March 14, at 11 a.m., St. Matthews Lutheran Church, 720 Dundee Ave., Barrington. Visitation is from 9:45-10:45 a.m. at St. Matthews prior to the service. The Rev. Marc Cohen will officiate. Visitation will also be held 3-8 p.m., Wednesday, March 13, at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 149 W. Main St. (Lake-Cook) Road, Barrington.

Memorial donations in lieu of flowers may be made to St. Matthews Lutheran Church, Barrington, Journey Care (formerly Hospice & Palliative Care of Northeastern Illinois), Barrington and Alzheimer’s Association are appreciated.
