EUGENE R. MAURICE

Eugene R. “Gene” Maurice, 88, of Burlington died May 6, 2013 at the Kindred Nursing Home, Milwaukee. He was born Aug. 12, 1924, to the late George and Alta (nee Hartnell) Maurice in Brighton Township where he spent his early life.

Gene was one of the second set – of the three sets – of twins in his family. In his younger years he worked as a dairy farmer on the family farm. Later he moved to Burlington and was employed by Master Mechanics as a line worker, until he retired in the early 1980s.

He was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church and Catholic Order of Foresters. One of the biggest enjoyments of his life was making quilts for family and friends and to donate to church and Love, Inc.

Gene is survived by his sisters, Rita Kemen, Brighton, and Mae Robers, Exeland; brothers, Raymond (Helen), Morrisville, N.C. and Robert (Joan), Waterford. He is also survived by nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

Gene was further preceded in death by his sister, Renata Placzkowski; his twin sister, Sr. Eugena Maurice; brothers-in-law, Edmund Robers, Allie Kemen, and Leonard Placzkowski; nephew, Jim Placzkowski; and niece, Linda Placzkowski.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at noon on Friday, May 10, at St. Charles Catholic Church with the Rev. Steve Amann officiating. Burial will follow in St. Charles Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Friday from 11 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. at the church.

The family suggests memorials be made to St. Charles Catholic Church or Love, Inc.

Gene’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Rein and the nurses and staff at Kindred Care Center, for their care and compassion.

Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home & Crematory, Burlington, is assisting the family.
