Esther J. Rowan, 89, Burlington, died Nov. 27, 2013, at Kindred Care.
She was born in Chicago, June 15, 1924, to the late Joseph and Mary Suchogurski. She spent her early life in Chicago where she attended school.
She married James Rowan on July 20, 1946, and they made their home in Chicago, San Diego and Wisconsin. He preceded her in death on Feb. 15, 1992.
She was an accounting clerk with Motorola for 25 years, a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Burlington, and enjoyed quilting, reading, baking and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her children, James (Linda) Rowan, Barbara (John) Welsh, Mary Ann (Michael) Melograno, Patty (Patrick) Fasano; grandchildren, Scott Rowan, Michael Rowan, Kelly Welsh, Nicole Zeller, Casey Welsh, Joe Melograno, Sean Welsh, Luke Melograno, Ryan Fasano; great-grandchildren, Jack Zeller, Charlee Rowan, Kaelynn Rowan, Owen Zeller, Liam Rowan and Molly Zeller; sisters, Eugenia Lucas and Lillian Mruk.
She was further preceded in death by four sisters, one brother, and a great-grandson, Payton Rowan.

Mass will be Monday, Dec. 9, at 1 p.m., at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Visitation is at the church in the Good Shepherd Chapel on Monday, Dec. 9, from 11 a.m.-12:45 p.m. Burial will take place in spring. Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home & Crematory, Burlington, is serving the family.
