Elizabeth M. “Betty” Miller, 97, Waterford, died Dec. 23, 2013, at Elder Care Cottage, Waterford.

She was born May 30, 1916, in Lake Beulah, to the late George and Elizabeth (Tenpenny) Crowley. Her early life was spent in the Waterford/Rochester, and Lake Beulah/East Troy areas. She received her education at St. Thomas Aquinas School, Waterford.

On Aug. 1, 1934, she married Alvin B. Miller in Rockford, Ill. Together they lived in the Burlington area and raised two sons, Richard G. and Donald J. Alvin. He preceded her in death on March 18, 1978.

She was a homemaker and then worked at a variety of jobs including helping her husband at the bowling alley during World War II, and later she was a sales clerk and manager of the housewares department at Reineman’s True Value.

She was a member of St. Mary Immaculate Conception Church in Burlington. She loved to travel out West by auto and in 1990 made a pilgrimage with her grandsons to Medjugore, Yugoslavia. She was an avid afghan maker, and all of her children and grandchildren have one to treasure that was made by her loving hands. She loved all the times she spent with her family.

Survivors include her sons, Richard G. (Therese) Miller, Donald J. (Kathy) Miller; grandchildren, Deborah Miller, John Miller, James (Susan) Miller, Daniel (Janine) Miller, Mary (Brian) Sekey, Dean (Suzanne) Miller, Amy Miller and Scott (Kim) Miller; great grandchildren, Jacob (Stephanie) Brushafer, Amanda (Matt) Potratz, Mark and Katrina Miller, Bryce and Matthew Sekey, Kara Miller, Monique Sardella-Pierre, Scott Rogers, Matthew Boyd and Patrick Boyd, and four great-great-grandchildren.

She was further preceded in death by her sisters, Jean Healy, Cecilia Ketterhagen, Jeanette Payne, Anna Mae Crowley; brothers, George Crowley, Ray Crowley and Jack Crowley, and one great-great-grandchild.

In lieu of flowers memorials to St. Mary’s Parish or toward a Gregorian Mass would be appreciated.

The family would like to thank Elder Care Cottages and Season’s Hospice for their loving care.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, Dec. 27, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Jim Volkert officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visitation is Thursday, Dec. 26, from 4-7 p.m., at Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home, 625 Browns Lake Drive, Burlington, with a rosary service at 7 p.m.
