CHARLES F. ELVERMAN

Charles F. ‘Chuck’ Elverman, 81, Burlington, died Dec. 22, 2013, at Waterford Senior Living.

He was born Aug. 6, 1932, in Wheatland Township, to the late Alois and Mary (Hunsbuscher) Elverman. He attended St. Alphonsus Grade School and graduated from St. Mary’s High School.

On Aug. 21, 1954, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, he married Patricia Ann Crowley. Following marriage they made their home in Wheatland, at the family farm.

He was a dairy farmer and a member of the Kenosha County Farm Bureau. After he retired from farming he worked for eight years at Burlington Consumers Co-op. He was a very active member of St. Alphonsus Church and a former member of the Forester’s. He was trustee at St. Alphonsus Parish, on the Building Committee and the Fall Festival Committee. He was also an extraordinary minister of Holy Communion and an usher.

He enjoyed playing sheepshead, gardening, reading, watching the Packers and Brewers and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years; his children, Barbara (Claude) Lois, Susan (Rick) Schlondrop, Thomas Elverman; grandchildren, Bridget (Djoly) Souffrant, Bradley Lois, Lauren Schlondrop, Adam Schlondrop, Jenna Schlondrop; great grandchildren, Isabella Souffrant and Gabriella Souffrant; and sister-in-law, Evelyn Elverman.

He was further preceded in death by his sisters, Ruth Poritz Celia and Lorraine “Sr. Charitas” Elverman; brothers, Richard Elverman and Fr. Donald Elverman.

Memorials to St. Alphonsus Parish would be appreciated.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, Dec. 28, at St. Alphonsus Church at 10:30 a.m., with the Rev. Joseph Debski officiating. Burial will follow in St. Alphonsus Cemetery.  Family and friends can visit with the family on Friday, Dec. 27, from 4-7 p.m., at Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home, 625 Browns Lake Drive, Burlington.
