Ardith J. Rowntree, 88, New London, formerly Burlington, died Dec. 8, 2013, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Milwaukee, July 30, 1925, to the late Hugh and Martha (Noll) Owens. She spent her early life in Waterford where she graduated from high school.
On Aug. 17, 1946, she married Earl P. Rowntree at St. John the Divine Episcopal Church. Following marriage she joined Earl on the farm until his death on April 19, 1971.
She was employed at several clothing stores in Burlington as a sales clerk. She was a member of St. John the Divine Episcopal Church where she served on the Pastoral Care Committee and was a member of the Episcopal Church Women’s Club. Most of all, she loved her volunteer work at Burlington Hospital.
Survivors include her children, Gail (Stephen) Sears, Anoka, Minn., Cathy (Wayne) Rathje, New London, Bruce (Lori) Rowntree, Burlington; grandchildren, Scott (Becky), Chris (Dave), Jenny (John), Ryan, Justin, Mark (Amanda) and Adam (Lori); great-grandchildren, Spencer, Hunter, Gavin, William, Gabrial, Scarlett, Sarrah and Uriah.
She was further preceded in death by her very special friend, Gene Robers.
Services for Ardith will be in the spring. Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home & Crematory, Burlington, is serving the family.
