ANNABELLE G. JOHNSON

Annabelle Gertrude Johnson, 99, died Nov. 7, 2013, at Inter-Faith Care Center, Carlton, Minn. She was born March 4, 1914, in Cloquet, Minn., to the late George and Amanda (Shannon) Derushe.

She was a survivor of the 1918 Fire of Cloquet. She graduated from eighth grade at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart School, and graduated from Cloquet High School in 1931. She participated in art club, girls club, declamation, Campfire Girls, bread club, Girl Scouts, interclass basketball, mathematics club and writing club.

She married John A. Johnson on July 26, 1939, at Sacred Heart. She was a member of the choir, Daughters of Isabella, and the Catholic Foresters.

Survivors include her sons, Jeffrey (Karen), and Brian (Ann); daughter, Deanne (Bogdan) Szumowski; grandchildren, Joel Johnson, Kirk Johnson, Chad (Kirsten Anne) Johnson, Logan Johnson, Caelan (Aven) Ford, Christopher Johnson, Natasha (Luke) Frey, Shannon Johnson, Kalle Johnson, Nicholas Szumowski, Dustin (Andrea) Szumowski; great-grandchildren, Peyton Johnson, Forestasia Aune, Sky Johnson, Madeline Frey; and nieces and nephews.

She was further preceded in death by her husband; brothers, Donald and George; sisters, Doris, Stella, Florence, Inez, Edith, Winifred, Mona, Jean;

The family would like to thank the staff at Evergreen Knoll and Inter-Faith Care Center for the care give to Annabelle.

Memorial Mass was celebrated Nov. 16, at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Cloquet. Nelson Funeral Care of Cloquet served the family.
