KAREN A. KRETSCHMER


Karen A. Kretschmer, 46, died June 3, 2012, at Memorial Hospital of Burlington. She was born Nov. 16, 1965, to the late Joseph and Veronica (Ketterhagen) Kretschmer in Burlington. She spent her whole life in Burlington and graduated from Sunny Grove School.

She was employed by Racine County Opportunity Center as a housekeeper. She was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church, the Special Olympics and a member of the “Fun Club.” She loved attending camp in Westfield and Walworth. Her favorite activities included bowling, track and bocce ball. She loved music and dancing, putting puzzles together and watching DVDs.

Survivors include her siblings, Patrick (Ruth) Kretschmer, Lake Zurich, Ill., Michael (Dianne) Kretschmer, Ingleside, Ill., Bob Kretschmer, Buffalo City, Marilyn (Dan) Fallon, Burlington, Alan Kretschmer, Menomonie Falls, Jane (Kenneth) Link, Union Grove; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

Visitation is Wednesday, June 6, from 4 p.m. until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 6 p.m., at St. Charle’s Catholic Church. The Rev. Steve Amann will officiate. Burial is Thursday June 7, at 9:30 a.m., at St. Charle’s Cemetery.

The family has suggested memorials be made to Western Racine County Special Olympics, c/o Donna McKusker, 1611 S. Browns Lake Dr., Burlington, WI  53105.

Karen’s family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to the Burlington Rescue Squad and the ER staff of Memorial Hospital of Burlington for the prompt and compassionate care.

  1. I worked for RCOC years ago and I also grew up in the same neighborhood as the Kretschmer’s. Karen had a bright smile and wonderful personality. I worked as her job coach for about 6 months and I will remember her smile and laugh forever. She was an absolutely beautiful soul and my she rest in peace.
