FAYE B. GLUESING


Faye B. Gluesing, 95, Burlington, died Nov. 5, 2012, at Arbor View Communities. She was born Feb. 7, 1917, in Iowa County, Iowa, to the late Chris and Anna (Faltinson) Nelson.

She spent her early life on a farm by Conroy, Iowa, and then moved to Cedar Rapids, where she graduated from Consolidated Conroy Washington High.

On Jan. 10, 1939, she was married the late Donald R. Gluesing in Clinton, Iowa. Following marriage they resided in the De Witt, Iowa, area on a farm. They then moved to a dairy farm in Fort Atkinson. After retiring they spent their winters in Florida, and in 1999 moved to Beverly Hills, Fla. She had been a resident of Burlington since 2004. She was a member of the Plymouth Congregational United Church of Christ and the Women of the Moose. She worked as a telephone operator and as a clerk in various department stores. She enjoyed working on her crafts, reading and crossword puzzles. Most of all she treasured time spent with her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her children, Dean (Bonnie) Gluesing, Greendale, Patsy Hlavacek, Burlington, Eunice Kirkman, Hernando, Fla., Phyllis (Dave) Harp, Naples, Fla.; grandchildren, Christopher (Tamara) Gluesing, Patrick (Lori) Gluesing, Kathleen (Andrew) Wenzel, Jeff Firkus, Brenda Boyle, Richard Martin, Doris Hunt, Troy (Tammy) Zeeryp, Julie Zeeryp and Stephen Carter; a step-granddaughter, Sherry (Karl) Krueger; 10 great-grandchildren; nieces, Beverly Rebik and Sharon Batten; other relatives and friends.

She was further preceded in death by her grandson, Bobby Hunt; son-in-law, Gary Hlavacek; and grandson-in-law, Rick Boyle.

Visitation is Friday, Nov. 9, from 4 to 6 p.m., with services at 6:30 p.m., at Schuette-Daniels Family Funeral Home, 625 Browns Lake Drive, Burlington. The Rev. Robert Wang will officiate.

Memorials to Plymouth Congregational United Church of Christ are suggested.

Faye’s family would like to give a special thank you to the staff at Arbor View Communities and Gentiva Hospice for all the care and compassion they gave Faye.
