The Rochester Memorial Day Committee invites the public to join Rochester’s 148th Memorial Day Observance on Monday, May 26.

Since 1866, Rochester has been honoring the brave service men and women who unselfishly gave their lives to keep our great nation free.

The parade will start at about 1:30 p.m. (based on the arrival of the Essman-Schroeder color guard, to lead the parade).

The parade will start at the firehouse on Highway FF, then turn left on Spring Street and right on Main Street, ending at the park on the corner of Front Street and Highway W.

A program in Pioneer Park follows the parade which, in case of rain, will be held in the old Village Hall on Main Street.

No parking is allowed along the parade route. A limited amount of handicapped parking will be available at Community State Bank.

Any questions, call 534-5344.

A remembrance ceremony and Balloon Launch will be held at Schiller Kulchar Fohr VFW Post 8343 Veterans Memorial Park, 7936 S. Loomis Road, Wind Lake, on Memorial Day, May 26.

The balloons represent all America’s POW/MIAs from all wars. Ceremonies begin at 2:45 p.m. The park is open from noon to 6 p.m. Launch preparations begin at 10 a.m.
